Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has made wearing helmets compulsory for pillion riders across the state. It will be enforced from January 12.
Helmets are already compulsory for the bike riders. The government has made the helmets compulsory after the road safety findings proved that over 30% road accidents occur in Karnataka are of two wheelers. Lot of pillion riders without helmets have died in road accidents in the past.
The move is likely to face some opposition from rural people.
