A lost man was reunited with his family after a long span of 22 years owing to the efforts of the Uttar Pradesh Police. The police tracked down his family with the help of Google Maps and the C-Plan App, a community policing initiative of the Uttar Pradesh Police to maintain law and order in villages and districts.

This incident took place at Prayas Bal Griha, where the police were counseling children in March 2024. During this, a sanitation worker named Bablu Sharma came up to the police and requested them to reunite him with his family.

Balbu said that he had left his residence in June 2002 and could not reach home again. He pleaded with the police for help to find his family. He informed that his father’s name is Sukhdev and his mother is Angoori Devi. Bablu could only recall the name of his village, Dhanaura.

The Government Railway Police (GRP) Inspector in-charge Ripudaman Singh of Mission Muskan (Uttar Pradesh Police initiative to reunite children with their families) started searching for Dhanaura village with the help of the C Plan app and Google Maps.

However, the investigation revealed that there are villages named Dhanaura in Bijnor, Baghpat and Bulandshahr districts and no concrete information could be found from any of these villages.

Following this, Bablu was questioned in detail. He said that he had reached Delhi by train. After several rounds of questioning, the police got the clue that Bablu’s village, Dhanaura was located near the Chola railway station. The police informed the team there and Bablu’s photo was circulated in his village.

The police finally received a call stating that one Sukhdev Sharma from the village had reported that his son had gone missing many years ago and no one has found him till date. The police contacted Sukhdev Sharma and asked him about other members in his family. The names of the family members shared by the father, Sukhdev matched with those stated by Bablu. Sukhdev said that he had searched for his son for a span of 5-6 years, following which he had given up hope.

Bablu was finally reunited with his parents after a separation lasting 22 years, marking an emotional moment for the family. Upon hearing the news, well-wishers started pouring in at their place, expressing joy and relief at seeing the young man safe.
