The actor talks about his next production, his conflict with Anusha Rizvi, and more

Mumbai: Superstar Aamir Khan says his forthcoming film Dhobi Ghat, which is his wife Kiran Rao's directorial debut, may not be liked by the masses.

"I fear that masses may not like Dhobi Ghat because it is a very fine and delicate film. People who understand film, people who are sensitive - this film is for them. This is not a mainstream film," said Aamir.

Dhobi Ghat tells the tale of how people from different classes are drawn together in compelling relationships. Shai (Monica Dogra), an affluent investment banker on a sabbatical, strikes up an unusual friendship with young laundry boy Munna (Prateik Babbar), and has a brief dalliance with painter Arun (Aamir Khan).

As they slip away from familiar moorings and come closer, the city finds its way into the crevices of their inner worlds. Though he is apprehensive about people's reaction, Aamir says Dhobi Ghat is the best offering from his production house. "I think this is the best film of my production house. I am really happy and excited about this film," he said.

Dhobi Ghat is scheduled to hit theatres on 31st January, 2011.

Aamir recently released the DVD of his latest production, Peepli Live.

Reacting to director Anusha Rizvi's decision to disassociate herself from Peepli Live, actor-producer Aamir Khan said it would be difficult for her to do so because it's her film.

"She has made the film, now removing herself from the film will be difficult for her," Aamir. Rizvi feels critical acclaim and commercial success of the film have boosted Aamir's fame instead of serving the actual purpose of making the film, so she decided to steer clear of promoting her directorial debut for the Oscar.

But Aamir said, "Every one has his or her opinion, she has her own. As far as my opinion is concerned, I will shoulder all my responsibilities. The film is neither mine nor her, it's audiences'. I have fulfilled every responsibility as a producer and will do it until death."

"My point of view is that as it's such a good film, I should make it reach to a broader spectrum of audience and the message should reach to as many people as possible."

Asked if Rizvi is shying away from her responsibility, he said, "I can't comment on that. Each one has their own thoughts; each one has their own take on what their responsibility is. As far I am concerned, I will stick to my responsibilities."

Aamir Khan, who took a long sabbatical from acting after 3 Idiots, says he will start shooting for director Reema Katgi's suspense drama in February next year.

"I have recently signed Reema Katgi's film. Reema and Zoya (Akhtar) have written this film. It's a suspense drama. We will start shooting end of February. After 3 Idiots, this is the first film I have signed. The casting of the film has not been finished yet," Aamir told reporters.

Aamir is excited and said, "It's been a long time I have done shooting for any film so I am quite excited to start again."

Produced by actor-director Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, it's Kagti's second film after her critically acclaimed movie Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd.
