New Delhi: Overjoyed with the Supreme Court verdict in his favour, cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu said he always had the blessings of people and his elders.
Saying, “I always have full faith in God,” he added that he had even taken the criticism of his political opponents in his stride
The Supreme Court on Tuesday stayed his conviction in a road rage death case, paving the way for Sidhu to contest the Parliament by polls in Amritsar, a seat he himself vacated after he was convicted by the Punjab and Haryana High Court on December 1.
"I was not feeling nervous before the verdict came. I have full faith in Almighty and the law of the land," Sidhu told PTI.
When asked whether he would now be contesting the by polls from Amritsar, Sidhu said, "My party president has already made himself clear on this."

BJP workers led by many local leaders in Amritsar on Tuesday took to the streets and celebrated as soon as the news of Supreme Court pronouncement spread in the border city.
The workers burst crackers, distributed 'ladoos' and danced on the beats of drums shortly after the Court verdict.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court had on December 1 convicted Sidhu in a road rage case dating back to 1988 and sentenced him to three years of imprisonment on December 6, 2006. The court had also slapped a fine of Rs 1 lakh on him.
