``When I applied for I AM She , only my parents knew about it,” says Vasuki Sunkavalli, who was in the city on Thursday, adding, “I wanted people to know me as a winner and not just a contestant. This is why I maintained a very low profile while I applied. But, now it is a different scenario. Everyone knows and the expectations are set high, for which I will give my best.” The dusky beauty, who has done her schooling from St Ann’s High School, and later studied law from Symbiosis International University and New York University School of Law, believes that she is not shifting her career path from being a human rights lawyer. She explains, “If I win the pageant, it will be a one year commitment. I am not shifting my career path. I am still a lawyer and will always be a lawyer.” Vasuki can be safely called as jack of all trades, since she has had varied interests right from start. Apart from her academic excellence and a quest to provide services to people as a human rights lawyer, she has also been modelling since 2007.Vasuki also believes that her education has helped her a lot in communicating and connecting with people.“I love studying, but I also love doing many other things. My education has taught me how to speak and connect with people, which is very important.” Ask for her definition on beauty, and she quickly adds, “I have been trying to figure it out myself. I believe that beauty is skin deep and what comes from within is humanity, faith and love.” Apart from winning the title of I AM She, Vasuki also won the sub-title of I AM Voice, which she says took her by surprise. She recollects, “While I was growing up, my brother would always say that I sound like a man. So it was a pleasant surprise to win the subtitle of I AM Voice.” The Hyderabadi beauty is very grateful that her parents have been extremely supportive. “My parents have always been very supportive of what I have wished to do. And, I would request all the parents out there to be supportive towards their children so that they can fly and pursue their dreams. I would request them not to cut their wings,” says Vasuki before signing off.
