Indore: A former Madhya Pradesh Minister, an IAS officer and 18 others were booked in an alleged multi-crore land scam, sources in Lokayukta said on Wednesday.
The ombudsman has charged ex-Minister Suresh Seth, IAS officer and the then Chief Executive Officer of Indore Development Authority (IDA) S B Singh and 18 others with corruption, cheating and criminal conspiracy, they said.
The case was registered against them on Tuesday on a complaint lodged by Gopal Baurusi.
According to the compliant, IDA had leased out one acre of land to Seth, to run a daily newspaper at Firoz Gandhi Press Complex in 1986. As per terms and condition of the lease deed, Seth was to use the land for bringing out the daily and not entitled to transfer it.
But, Seth, in collusion with government officers, raised two buildings for commercial use on the plot and sold 24 blocks unlawfully, inflicting a loss of Rs 8 crore to the government, the complaint said.
