IBN7 Diamond States Awards: Maharashtra, Sikkim emerge winners
The top three emerging big states were Bihar, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh while Manipur, Himachal Pradesh and Meghalaya won in the small states category

New Delhi: IBN7 along with Outlook magazine rewarded many states for their outstanding work in many fields including education, health, social development, and law and order. The IBN7 Diamond States Awards was attended by several dignitaries including Lok Sabha

In the big states the first place went to Maharashtra followed by Tamil Nadu and Gujarat. In the small states the top honours went to Sikkim, followed by Goa and Uttarakhand. The top three emerging big states were Bihar, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh while Manipur, Himachal Pradesh and Meghalaya were the winners in the emerging small states.

Gujarat received the best state award for citizen security while Sikkim was the winner in small states section. For the best infrastructure Punjab and Delhi were the winners. In the field of education Kerala emerged the winner while Himachal Pradesh received was at the top in small states.

Maharashtra was awarded for creating most employment opportunities in big states category while Uttarakhand was the winner in small states section. Kerala and Sikkim received the awards for environment category in the big and small states sections.

Kerala was also the winner in the best health category while Goa got it in small states section. Jammu and Kashmir received Diamond States Awards for best poverty alleviation while Kerala once again won it for big states. In the sanitation and water supply category, too, it was Maharashtra which won in the big states section while Sikkim won it in the small states section. Tamil Nadu won it for women empowerment while Uttarakhand was the top small state in the same category.

IBN7 Diamond States Awards are given for better performing in the various categories including education, healthcare, employment, environment, womens' empowerment, core infrastructure, water & sanitation, poverty reduction and citizen security
