BANGALORE: On Thursday, the third day of the festival too, many patients complained of eye injuries. Minto Ophthalmic Hospital received 11 patients on Thursday. In the last three days during Deepavali festival, the hospital has witnessed 28 cases of which six are undergoing treatment.Similarly, 9 patients who sustained firecracker injuries visited Shankara Eye Hospital and 15 fresh cases were reported at Narayana Nethralaya on Thursday. Of them seven were reported to be children. Seven-year-old Sakshi, a resident of Sarjapura who suffered cornea damage, was admitted to the hospital.Most of the patients have suffered from corneal injuries. Two children with minor eye injuries were treated at Rangalakshmi Netralaya. According to the doctors, most of the patients treated in the hospitals were the onlookers or passerby while others bursted crackers.Patients suffering from respiratory disorders face problems in normal breathing especially due to high air pollution level. A number of patients complained of breathing and respiratory problems. Dr H Parmesh, director, Lake Side Hospital, said those who already suffer from Bronchial Asthma or any other respiratory disease feel difficulty during this festival as the problem of wheezing increases by hundred per cent among such patients.
