THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The students of Government Model HS LPS and Nursery, Thycaud, will be drenched in patriotic fervour on Friday. Some 500-odd students, from nursery section to Class IV, and nearly 25 teachers of the school will come together to give a musical presentation on Friday morning, in connection with the nation celebrating its 64th Independence Day.“It would be something unique as far as government schools are concerned. The idea was mooted to instill patriotism and love for the country among the children,” said Trivandrum R Mahadevan, noted violinist and music teacher with the school, who is leading the music presentation.The students will be wearing the school uniform and sporting caps in the colours on the National Flag. They will assemble on the school ground, in the shape of the map of India, and render the patriotic songs.Three patriotic songs will be sung by the students - ‘Vandemataram’, ‘Pavithra bharata noothana soudham’ (written by P Bhaskaran and composed by Udayabhanu) and a Hindi song ‘Nanne Munne’, written by Ramapati Shukla and composed by Umasankar.The musical presentation is being held on Friday as the next three days will be holidays for the school. The programme will be inaugurated by Minister for Transport V S Sivakumar. A painting exhibition is also being organised in the school in connection with Independence Day.
