An independent MLA on Sunday gave unconditional support to the JMM as the party is trying to seek numbers in its endeavour to forge an alliance to form the ninth government in Jharkhand.
"I have handed over the letter of support to the JMM leadership. It's unconditional," Bidesh Singh, the MLA, said at the residence of JMM supremo Shibu Soren.
"I have given support in the interest of all round development of the state, with special focus on backward region Palamau," the Panki legislator added.
Singh's support comes a day after JMM leader Hemant Soren, who is tipped to be the chief minister, said he has the backing of more than 41 MLAs.
Meanwhile, the lone Marxist Coordination Committee MLA Arup Chatterjee said Soren has called him up seeking his support, "and I am now establishing contact with our party leaders to seek their advice before taking any decision".
Lone CPI (ML-Liberation) MLA, Vinod Kumar Singh, said, "I will sit in the opposition."
The Congress and the RJD have already announced their support to the JMM initiation towards a new alliance.
All the three parties have a combined strength of 36 and expecting support from independent and smaller parties' to drum up a simple majority in the 82-member house.
