New Delhi: India on Tuesday strongly condemned the barbaric attack on a school in Peshawar in which at least 130 children were killed, saying there is never a justification for terrorism.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the terror attack and termed it a senseless act of brutality. In three separate tweets, Modi said, "Strongly condemn the cowardly terrorist attack at a school in Peshawar...It is a senseless act of unspeakable brutality that has claimed lives of the most innocent of human beings - young children in their school...My heart goes out to everyone who lost their loved ones today. We share their pain & offer our deepest condolences."
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) disapproved of the incident. "No words will capture the feeling of deep revulsion and horror we feel about this terror attack against innocent children of the Army Public School in Peshawar - It was not just innocent children who have been massacred today, but the very conception of humanity," MEA's official spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said.
Terming the attack as "crime against humanity", he said prayers are with the families and loved ones of all those who lost their lives or were injured in this barbaric incident. "We hope the almighty gives them the courage and fortitude to bear their irreparable loss. There never has been, nor will there ever be, a justification for terrorism. Our hearts go out to the grief-stricken families of the innocent children killed and injured in this barbaric attack in Peshawar," he added.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh condemned the terrorist strike saying the inhuman attack exposes the real face of terrorism. "I strongly condemn the terrorist attack on a school at Peshawar (Pakistan). This dastardly and inhuman attack exposes the real face of terrorism," Singh said in a statement.
Expressing his condolence to the families of the terror attack victims, the Home Minister said his heart goes out to the families of those children who were killed by the terrorists in Peshawar.
The Communist Party of India too condemned the terror attack and said it has shaken the conscience of humanity to the scourge of global terrorism. Party MP D Raja said India has been asking Pakistan not to allow its soil to be used for terrorism and this should be an eye opener to the Pakistani government. The Pakistan government should do introspection to see that forces of terrorism were not nurtured on its soil, he said. Raja said Indian security and intelligence agencies should be alive to the threat of terror attacks in India.
