New Delhi: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), the country's premier medical institution does not have enough space to treat a dying soldier.
A Central Reserve Police Force jawan, Roop Kishore, injured in an ambush with militants is struggling for his life outside AIIMS.
He has been waiting for the last four days, but AIIMS has refused to admit him saying there are no beds available.
Roop Kishore was injured in Kashmir last month in a terrorist attack. Five of his colleagues were killed in the encounter but he escaped with bullet injuries.
Roop Kishore was brought to Delhi on October 23 and taken to the CRPF base hospital. Four days back he was referred to AIIMS.
He is paralysed below his waist and his relatives fear that he might not survive if not treated immediately.
AIIMS has fixed January 23, 2006 as the date for Roop Kishore's CT scan. Hospital authorities refuse to say anything as to why the soldier is being meted out such a treatment.
Roop Kishore's four-day trauma has finally ended and all that remains are curious onlookers and desperate family members. But the question which arises out of all this is, is this the way to treat the soldiers of this country?
