THIRUVANANTHAPURAM/ KOLLAM: In a new twist to the Valakam attack probe, a medical report on the injuries of R Krishnakumar, the teacher undergoing treatment in the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital, said that the injuries on his private parts were not inflicted with sharp weapons. The medical report suggested that the injuries of the nature could possibly be caused either by a speeding vehicle or due to a fall from a great height.Meanwhile, Krishnakumar, who earlier said that he did not visit Kadakkal or Nilamel, in his statement to the Magistrate, changed his version on Thursday and said that he had gone to Kadakkal to visit the astrologer.Changing his earlier statement that he was travelling in his own car, he told the investigating officers DySP Shanawas and DySP Ajith that he was left at Nilamel from Kadakkal by the astrologer’s son. He told the police that from Nilamel, he took a KSRTC bus and was attacked by a four member gang while trying to cross the road at Valakam. He maintained that R Balakrishna Pillai had a personal grudge against him.The police also recorded and videographed the statement of Krishnakumar’s wife Geeta and the astrologer. According to reports, the police have also questioned them about their money transactions.Sources in the investigation team told Express that the statement given by the teacher on Thursday logically matches with that of his wife, astrologer and the findings of the investigation team. The police team have zeroed down a few possibilities of the attack.Though the medical report indicated that no sharp weapons were used, the possibilities of an attack cannot be ruled out. Nothing unusual was found during the probe into the victim’s bank account. Transactions made during the few days before the attack were mainly related to some loans and savings’ transaction.Meanwhile, Krishnakumar’s wife, Geeta, alleged that the police was deliberately trying to make the brutal attack on her husband an accident. “It’s wrong to say that he changed his statement on the incident. He is yet to recover fully and is still in an unconscious state. He had earlier given the statement to the Magistrate when he was in such a state. The police officials had to call his name each time before they could get any response from him,” she said.
