Mumbai: The low intensity bomb blast that struck Bengaluru on Sunday night has led to heightened security across the country. Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and Kolkata have been put on high alert following the blast ahead of New Year's eve.
The Intelligence Bureau is also believed to have specific inputs of a Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) team planning a strike in Mumbai. The specific inputs are regarding five SIMI men who are believed to have carried out the Pune blast. The Mumbai Police has sounded an alert to all 93 police stations across the city.
A top source in the Maharashtra anti-terror squad (ATS) had confirmed that a sixth person had joined the 5 SIMI men. The group has managed to evade arrest for almost a year after a daring jail break in October 2013. They are said to have recceed places across the state.
However, the investigating agencies have maintained that they are closely monitoring the case.
After Sunday's blast, Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju said that there is a general alert for all over the country against possible terror attacks but specific alert for any particular place or city is given only on the basis of specific inputs.
