ROURKELA: Even as security forces claimed to make significant inroads into the ‘liberated zone’ of the Maoists in the adjacent Saranda forest,Jharkhand-based suspected Maoists killed a village headman in the area onSaturday. The incident took place in the interior Jojoda area, between Porahat and Saranda forests, under the Goeilkera police limits in Jharkhand, about 120 km from here. As per reports, a group of Maoists abducted Bimal Lumga, headman of Jojoda village, and dumped his body after killing him at Kuwai area. Jharkhand police on Saturday reached the spot to take possession of the body. Jharkhand’s Chaibasa- based DIG Naveen Singh said the Porahat forest hadbeen a stronghold of the Maoists and in the next security exercise, the Maoistswould be flushed out from Porahat.
