VELLORE: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa inaugurated the newly established electricity sub-station at Thorapadi in Vellore, which was established at a cost of Rs 6.50 crore, through video-conferencing on Wednesday. The sub-station with the capacity of 110/11 KV would ensure power stability for around 50 villages in the surroundin agreas.Officials of the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Ltd (TANGEDCO) said that the sub-station will prevent low and high voltage and streamline the power supply to Allapuram, Krishna Nagar, Sainathapuram, Sripuram, Virupatchipuram and around 50 villages nearby.The sub-station will also help the TANGEDCO bring down the maintenance cost and also enable it to provide stable power supply to the consumers, said T Natarajan, Chief Engineer (Vellore), TANGEDCO. Suganthi of Allapuram, who thanked the CM for establishing the EB sub-station, said, “There are over 40,000 people in the Allapuram area and they have been facing a lot of difficulty due to power fluctuation. The students, children and elders suffered a lot in our area till a year ago. Now the establishment of the sub-station will solve the problem of low and high power voltage.”Collector Ajay Yadav also thanked the CM on behalf of the Vellore people for establishing the EB sub-station at Thorapadi.
