THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: ‘Karshika Samruthi’-2011, organised by Agri Friends, a cultural organisation of agricultural officers and agricultural enthusiasts, will be held at YMCA hall here on Friday. Students of the ‘Krishipadam’ project, coordinated by Agri Friends, will felicitate Minister for Agriculture K P Mohanan on the occasion. Mayor K Chandrika will preside over the function. As many as 100 students of the ‘Krishipadam’ club are expected to participate in the function, the organisers said at a press meet here on Tuesday. Krishipadam Sreshta Awards will be presented to personalities from various fields and institutions for their contribution to promote agriculture in the State.Prathibasreshta Award for best student prodigy will be awarded to Adwaith of Christ Nagar HSS, Thiruvananthapuram and SN UPS, Kollayil, will be presented the Vidayalayasreshta Award for the best school. K Muraleedharan MLA will present the awards. Lodfrey Memorial Agricultural Quiz for school students will be conducted on the occasion. ‘Manninu Snehapoorvam’, a docu-fiction produced by Agri Friends and GEWS, Kottarakkara and ‘Munnayude Lokam’, a children’s novel written by Suresh Muthukulam, will be released. Agri Friends members said that the new initiatives by Agri Friends and GEWS Kottarakkara Krishi@School, Krishi@Home and Krishi@Nattumpuram projects along the lines of IT@school will be introduced from this academic year. Kits for the project aimed at promoting agriculture in schools, homes and villages will be distributed on the occasion.
