THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Keltron has been appointed to synchronise the automatic traffic signals in the city. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Road Safety Authority chaired by the outgoing District Collector Dinesh Arora at the District Collectorate.  A joint survey is also planned for erecting manually operated traffic signals across the city.NATPAC, City police, PWD, Corporation and Keltron will participate in the survey, according to a statement issued here. The district administration also announced plans to open pre-paid auto/taxi stands at Medical College, Pettah and General Hospital junctions.The officials concerned have been instructed to submit the relevant proposals to the District Collector at the earliest. The city police have been asked to identify  locations suitable for establishing bus shelters. The officials of PWD and National Highways have been instructed to provide proposals for the 20 approved bus shelters to the Road Safety Authority. Dinesh Arora said a final decision on the bus shelters would be taken within three days. Mayor K Chandrika, City Police Commissioner Manoj Abraham, NATPAC director B G Sreedevi, NH Division executive engineer K Rosamma, Corporation executive engineer K S Jayachandra Kumar, City Traffic Circle Inspector R Sudhakaran Pillai, City Traffic Sub-Inspector R Suresh and other officials attended the meeting.
