New Delhi: Over 100 people are feared dead in the third straight day of violence in Kenya polls.
Opposition activists, looters and rioters have clashed in several parts of the country, including the capital Nairobi.
The clashes, mostly between rival tribes, were triggered after Thursday's disputed re-election of President Mwai Kibaki.
A ban on live TV broadcasts has further fuelled uncertainty. However, the government says it is an effort to contain the violence.
Indian high commissioner PS Randhawa told CNN-IBN that the 50,000 strong ethnic Indian community was safe and not being targeted, but some shops belonging to them were burnt in Kisumu, Kenya’s third largest city.
Tribesmen loyal to defeated candidate Raila Odinga are reported to be attacking Kikuyu tribesmen supporting President Kibaki.
Odinga lost last week's election by a razor thin margin. He has demanded a recount alleging irregularities in the counting process.
The Election Commission says a recount is not possible. EU observers also faulted the final result. Odinga plans to hold his own swearing in ceremony in Nairobi.
