KOTTAYAM: A minibus carrying 24 persons plunged into a 300-feet gorge on the Vagamon road at Vellikulam near Erattupetta killing four and injuring 20 others on Tuesday. All the occupants of the minibus belonged to Muhamma and Cherthala in Alappuzha. They were returning from a Sivaratri programme at a temple in Pasupara when the accident occurred about 8.30 am.The dead were identified as Binu, 20, son of Babu, Vadakkumthalakkal House, Muhamma, Sagesh, 16, son of Sally, Thaiveppil, Muhamma, Manikkuttan, 41, son of Purushotaman, Chenamvely, Varanam, and Sruthiraj, 16, son of Thilakan, Kizhakevely, Muhamma.Five of the injured are in a serious condition. The injured were taken to Marian Medical Centre, Bharannaganam, Erattupetta Public Health Centre, Marygiri Hospital, Bharananganam and Taluk Hospital, Pala.Later, the serious cases were referred to the Medical College Hospital, Kottayam, Circle Inspector, Erattupetta, D Mohan Das said.The minibus was negotiating a sharp curve when the driver lost control of the vehicle, police said. Among the injured were Prince, 22 , Sanu, 33, Ramjith, 13, Ratheesh, 15, Sagar, 19, Sudheesh, 23, Sabin, 31, Sandeep,14, Ragesh, 14, Rathhesh, 23, and Sherin, 26.
