The Kerala High Court on Tuesday set aside the appointment of K Venugopalan as the administrator of the Guruvayur Devaswom.
The court passed the order while considering a petition filed by M Aneesh Kumar of Kannur, challenging the appointment. The court held that an officer of the government, not below the rank of Deputy Collector, could be appointed as the administrator.
The court also directed the state to prepare a panel to appoint an appropriate person as the administrator. The government could make arrangements in accordance with Section 16 of Guruvayur Devaswom Act by appointing an officer not below the rank of deputy collector to the additional charge of administrator.
