Lucknow: The body of a kidnapped Lucknow boy, Ankit Vishwakarma, the 13-year-old son of laboratory technician in Lucknow, has been found near Barabanki district.
Ankit had allegedly been kidnapped from the Eldeco Udyan colony here on Friday evening.
Though the boy’s father, an employee of the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), had claimed that his son had been kidnapped and that he had received three phone calls demanding a ransom of Rs five lakh, police did not confirm it.
Investigators claim Ankit was killed the day he was kidnapped as he may have recognised his abductors.
Police sources said the body was recovered on Tuesday morning near a canal in Muradabad village on the Lucknow-Deva road in the adjoining Barabanki district following interrogation of three accused who were arrested on Monday night.
The three arrested youths were identified as Vishal Mishra, Satyendra Gupta and Gaurav Singh, who admitted to the police that they had killed Ankit in a car on the night of his abduction and had dumped the body on the Lucknow-Deva road.
The police are looking for three other persons who they claim were also involved in the kidnapping.
Meanwhile, the employees’ union of SGPGIMS have threatened to go on an indefinite strike to protest the killing.
In a similar incident, on Friday, the day Ankit was kidnapped, two persons were injured in the Soron town of Etah district as protesters burnt several vehicles and clashed with police after the body of four-year-old Madhav Agarwal, who was reported missing 10 days ago, was found.
