TIRUCHY: A special police team on Monday arrested four persons, including the sister-in-law of the AIADMK functionary ‘Cable’ Sekar, who was murdered here on Friday. AIADMK area secretary ‘Cable’ C Sekar (48) was hacked to death in broad daylight by a six-member gang in Tiruchy on Friday. Preliminary investigations revealed that the murder was due to a dispute between Sekar and his brother. Subsequently, city commissioner of police E Ma Masanamuthu formed three special teams led by assistant commissioner V R Srinivasan to arrest the culprits. During the initial investigation, the police registered a case against P Silambarasan, the nephew of Sekar, P Parvathy (39), second wife of Periyasamy, the elder brother of Sekar, P Thangamani (28) son of Periyasamy from Mela Ambikapuram in Ariyamangalam, B Bharath Kumar alias Vadivelu of Periyar Nagar in Ariyamangalam (21) and A Abbas (21) of Ariyamagalam, Vivek, Bala, Pushparaj, Jahir, ‘Paambukutti’ Nagendran and ‘Abaya’ Baharkar. On Monday, the team arrested Parvathy, Thangamani, Bharath Kumar alias Vadivelu and Abbas. They were produced before the Judicial Magistrate VI, who remanded them under judicial custody. A search is on for others.
