TRIPUNITHURA: The four electrical sections — Tripunithura, Maradu, Udayamperoor and Palluruthy — in Tripunithura constituency could achieve much more than their target in various sections, including transformer installation, conversion, 11kv-line installation and new counters for cash collection. On Tuesday morning Excise Minister K Babu inaugurated the special meeting held at Kalikotta Palace to formally dedicate the completed works to the public.“In Tripunithura section the Kerala State Electricity Board's target was installing two transformers. But we could install seven transformers in the section. Though the target for Udayamperoor was two we could install four transformers and in place of 10 transformers in Maradu section we could install 18 and instead of two transformers in Palluruthy we installed three, said B Sreekumar, executive engineer.Similarly, the conversion rate was also much higher than the fixed target. In Tripunithura section we could complete 7.34 instead of 3, in Maradu 5.75 instead of 3 and in Palluruthy 3 instead of 1.5.Though the proposed target for installing 11kv line was 2.8 km, the board could complete a total of 7,127 km, of 11kv line in all the four sections. The board also completed the re-conductoring work on the 3 km-long high tension line. Though the allotted fund for the work was Rs 60 lakh, the board has spent nearly Rs 1.2 crore for the said work to make it foolproof. In the coming term, the board is planning to complete major works worth nearly Rs 30-crore, projects which come under RAPDRP scheme. The works include a total of 49.9-km-long 11kv line installation, 117m RMU, a total of 62 transformers and a conversion of lines along a total 135.5 km-long conversion line. As part of the consumer-friendly proposals of the board, the office of Madavana sub-division was shifted to Kumbalam Panchayat Office and to make the payment of bills easier the counters at Madavana would function for an additional day.To make the power supply to southern regions like Udayamperoor smooth the board has installed a 11kv feeder in Kandanad Sub-Station. As part of the ongoing execution of Choondi drinking water project for the thickly populated areas like Tripunithura and Udayamperoor, the KSEB has completed the cable work along the route. The preliminary work of the proposed sub-station near Tripunithura Milma plant is progressing. 110kv sub-stations will soon be commissioned in Panangad which will put an end to the increasing voltage fluctuation problem in Kumbalam.“We could complete all the projects successfully because of the wholehearted support of KSEB Minister Aryadan Muhammad and Excise Minister K Babu, said Sreekumar. After Sreekumar gave a detailed report of the completed projects, Babu inaugurated the formal commissioning of the proposed projects. Municipal chairman R Venugopal presided over the function. Kochi Mayor Tony Chammany delivered the keynote address. Mohan Varghese, chief engineer, KSEB, welcomed the gathering and Christy K Abraham, executive engineer, Mattanchery, proposed the vote of thanks.
