New Delhi: 'Life of Pi' is based on Yann Martel's book of the same name. The story is centred on a boy called Piscine Molitor Patel alias Pi who comes from an affluent Indian family. The three stages of Pi's life have been featured in the film in which he seeks answers to the questions related to the metaphysical world.
The bonding between Pi and a tiger is tested when both of them find themselves trapped on a boat.
Directed by Ang Lee, the film stars Suraj Sharma, Irrfan, Tabu and Adil Hussain in prominent roles.
Ang Lee is known for films such as 'Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon', 'Brokeback Mountain', 'Hulk' and 'Lust Caution'. He is among the acclaimed directors of Hollywood and his interest in telling the common man's story is quite evident in his earlier films, thus one can expect a socially relevant story from him.
If the film is going to follow the book in true sense then 'Life of Pi' will also pose questions about different faiths and religions.
Rohit 'Vats' of IBNLive is inside the theatre to live tweet the experience of 'Life of Pi'.
