BANGALORE: The state might have to go in for load-shedding for the next few days as the already precarious power situation is expected to be hit by the failure of one unit of 300 MW capacity at Jindal Power Station. Highly placed officials in the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited said load-shedding would affect Bangalore only in case of emergency. “Unless there is some unforeseen emergency, Bangalore should be spared,” said the official. Also, Unit 6 of the Raichur Thermal Power Station has been shut down for repairs and with summer fast approaching, the spectre of load-shedding once again looms over the state.Officials, were however prompt in assuring that problems would be sorted out within the next 4-5 days. Energy Minister Shobha Karandlaje could not be reached for comment. The consumption of the state on Friday was 173.835 million units (MU) with a peak load of 7,979 MW, according to KPTCL.
