VIPUL VENKATRAMANVipul Venkatraman started preparing for the IIT-JEE right from Class 9. “My interest was to actually become a cricketer, my parents were keen to see me join IIT,” he said. Vipul says his biggest weakness was his habit of talking on the phone. “Though I was only chatting about studies, I was on the phone for almost 30 minutes everyday. On the positive side, Physics and Math seemed easy as I am not capable of mugging. Logic appeals to me,” he added. Vipul scored about 470 marks in Class 12 and has placed 63rd in the IIT-JEE ranks. “My strength was my faculty who I could call even at 11pm for a query, and of course my mother. She took a sabbatical from her job to take care of me. Now that it’s all over, I can go back to cricket. Obviously I will be adding good qualifications along the way. I haven’t decided what I want do in life yet,” he said.YESHWANTH CYeshwanth C knew from the beginning that he wanted to be in IIT. “I was very interested in computer science and my uncle told me that the best course is at IIT. Hence I set my heart on joining there. My parents were worried that I would lose my weekends but I joined weekend classes in FIIT-JEE and slowly made my way upward. I would have perhaps learnt a different language and played tennis if I had had more time,” he added. Yeshwanth wants to join IIT-Mumbai, as it is the most reputed. “Last year, the top 96 were able to get in there. So I am sure I will get selected too,” said the 67th rank holder.E DHIVYAE Dhivya passed out from DAV (Matric) Higher Secondary School in Gopalapuram. Creating history in IIT-JEE results in Tamil Nadu by achieving a rank higher than 100 (96), she wants to study at IIT-Madras and pursue a masters degree abroad later. “It is my love for puzzles that made me take up IIT coaching as it was the most challenging ground available,” she said.
