KOCHI: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Mullappally Ramachandran has said that big sharks would not be spared in the other state lottery issue.
Mullappally told reporters here on Wednesday that the Ministry of Home Affairs was always ready for a CBI probe into the issue. He added that there were procedural delays on the part of state government in filing documents related to the issue.
"Union Home Minister P Chidambaram was always in favour of a CBI probe into the otherstate lotteries issue. There were some procedural delays on the part of the state in filing FIR, police report and other documents. However, the Ministry has made it clear that it was ready for a CBI probe even with the procedural delays," the Minister said. On the demand made by former Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan that Home Minister P Chidambaram should resign owning up responsibility for the issue, Mullappally said the demand was made with an evil intention. On the allegation that lottery mafia has an influence in the power centres, Mullappally said strict action would be taken against those who collude with the lottery mafia.
