The long wait to get birth and death certificates from the Local Self-Governments (LSG) will be a thing of the past. For, the Local Self-Governance bodies in the state have gone on a refresh mode with a host of services offered going online, including issue of birth and death certificates.
Panchayat and Social Welfare Minister M K Muneer said that people could avail themselves of these services which would ensure speedy issuing of certificates within hours after applying.
“The marriage certificate needs the couple to be present in person but with the introduction of the new system it will also be provided instantly,” he said.
Muneer was talking to reporters here on Thursday after inaugurating the Information Kerala Mission’s digital highway and publishing of the online details of 12th Five Year Plan online.
The digital superhighway is based on the virtual private network that operates using broadband by which elaborate data can be sent securely. It is for the first time in the country that such a system is being implemented to connect LSGs in the state.
Not only does the new system allow the existing applications to be switch over to web-based, it will also enable application for building permit, to be uploaded online.
Muneer said that the new service would give an impetus to the e-governance in the state.
