The police had earlier blamed the woman for leveling allegations against Girish Chandra Verma to blackmail him over a property dispute.
Bhopal: The Chief of Maharishi Vidya Mandir group of schools Girish Chandra Verma has been arrested by Bhopal Police over charges of periodically raping a school teacher for over a period 7 years.
The teacher had lodged a complaint in March 2013 with the police alleging rape. Thereafter the police had started its probe. He was arrested after he gave his statement on Sunday evening.
There has been no explanation so far by the police on the delay in the arrest as the complaint had been lodged in March. The police had earlier called the case a dispute over a property and had blamed the woman for blackmailing him.
Due to lack of action from the police, the woman had even written to the Women Rights Commission seeking action in the case.
