BANGALORE: One needed a handkerchief while going near the mortuary at the Victoria Hospital a few years ago.The staff working at the mortuary used to curse themselves for working in such unhygienic condition.The contractor assigned to undertake the repair work of the cold storage facility had forgotten his responsibility.The result was the bad odour that emanated from unclaimed bodies due to lack of cold storage facility.City Express published an article emphasising the need to take up repair work immediately.The authorities concerned then directed the contractor to do the needful.The staff members at the mortuary thanked our paper for taking up the issue.The other article that made BBMP authorities to take action was on the e n c r o a c h m e n t o f Devarabeesanahalli tank bed by a private builder.After we published the article on the encroachment, the BBMP authorities swung into action and removed the fence put up by the builder
