HYDERABAD: The Veer Hanuman Vijay Yatra, organised by the Bajrang Dal as part of Hanuman Jayanthi celebrations here on Friday, passed off smoothly and without any untoward incident.The impressive and huge procession was flagged off by Viswa Hindu Parishad International working president Praveen Togadia.The procession, which began at the Ram Mandir in Gowliguda in the old city of Hyderabad at 11.30 am, ended at the Hanuman temple at Tadbun in Secunderabad around 4.30 pm. Thousands of youngsters and devotees participated in the procession..The procession route was decked up with saffron flags and pandals. Voluntary organisations and individuals supplied water packets, eatables, soft drinks and prasadam to the processionists throughout. The entire route witnessed a surge of saffron as youngsters waved saffron flags and the national flag, chanting Jai Sri Ram. The rally passed off peacefully amid tight police bandobust. Business establishments along the procession route remained shut. As the main roads on the stretch from Gowliguda to Tadbun remaining blocked for several hours, the interior roads got jammed, causing hardships to commuters.Togadia spoke at the beginning of the rally at Gowliguda and also at Imperial Gardens in Secunderabad.Bajrang Dal city convener N Vinod said the procession passed off peacefully and claimed that nearly 2.50 lakh devotees took part in it. ``The procession was 5 km long,’’ he claimed.
