BANGALORE: With Bangalore Metro joining hands with the Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited (KRIDL), it is now only a matter of time before MG Road Boulevard will once again delight Bangaloreans a bustling lush green pathway.
The work on the boulevard that should to have started by March had been in a deadlock as both Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) and Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) could not come to an agreement over the cost of production of the project. Now, however BMRCL has entered into an agreement with KRIDL that is responsible for carrying out rural development construction works.

The restoration and renovation work on the M G Road Boulevard that is expected to cost over `7 crore, envisages an elevated walkway, an openair theatre, an art gallery, a museum and a children's play area, including many trees and flowers.

The promenade was razed by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited in 2007 before it started the construction of the viaduct for Namma Metro Reach One between Byappanahalli and Chinnaswamy Stadium.

A new look

For shifting the metro mockup coaches, BMRCL has been considering various options. Initially the plan was to shift the mockup to Byapanahalli, then there were also talks about auctioning off the mockup.

What's your reaction?
