New Delhi: A 32-year-old woman, who was a victim of molestation, allegedly committed suicide police said on Saturday.
Renu Sharma committed suicide Friday afternoon after consuming poison at her Sadar Bazar residence in Delhi Cantonment in southwest Delhi. Police have recovered a suicide note.
Sharma, a private tutor, ended her life while her parents were out to visit a temple in Kalkaji in south Delhi. She was unmarried, police said.
According to police, the victim mentioned in her suicide note that three people, who had earlier allegedly molested her, repeatedly threatened her to death.
"I am taking this step due to endless mental pressure created on me by three person -Abhimanu, Suriender Puri and Lakhnapal- to withdraw the molestation case against them," she wrote in her letter.
The molestation case filed by her in 2003 against the trio is under process at the Tis Hazari court in the city, police said.
"We are probing the matter and the accused will be apprehended soon," a senior official said.
