New Delhi: The Met department has said that the monsoon deficiency has reduced to 23 per cent against 31 per cent a week ago and monsoon is expected to cover the entire country on Wednesday.

Central India, Northern plains to get good rains in four to five days, the Met said.

Monsoon showers lashed most parts of Punjab and Haryana on Tuesday. Patiala in Punjab with 74 mm of rainfall was the wettest place in the two states. The maximum temperature in Patiala was recorded at 33.8 deg C, down by two notches.

Ludhiana also received light showers and the maximum settled at 32.3 deg C, three degrees below normal, the Met said.

It was a sultry Tuesday for Delhiites with mercury rising above normal and monsoon rains eluding the capital during daytime.

However, the weatherman has predicted more rains in the coming days.
