The Crime Branch (CB) team which has arrested terror accused Halim, Anas and Shamnad is also probing whether any murders were committed by them. The investigation so far has revealed their role in quotation crimes and robberies to raise funds to meet the legal expenses of terror cases. According to a Crime Branch official, it is for the first time that investigation agencies in the country have come to know that terror groups are also involved in quotation crimes. “Several murders in the state, especially in Kochi, were committed by quotation gangs. We have to find out if the arrested persons have any role in them. We suspect their involvement in a few murder attempt cases also. Exploiting their financial requirements some people are using them,” the official said.
Biju K Stephen, CI, Crime Branch, said Halim was involved in several attacks on business men in Kannur to raise funds.
