Everyone loves one-liners. From controversial to in your- face, from the intelligent ones to the funny ones, the list is endless. While the more mature segment may be a little cautious while wearing or sporting attires carrying these liners, college-goers on the other hand, are more robust when it comes to showing it off.One could say that for them it is not just a tee or an apparel with some writing, but it is a mean to get noticed and wear and display their attitude.Over the years many t-shirt and lifestyle brands have come up with intriguing t-shirts sporting such messages with a bit of graphics. But with the surge in this fad, came its own limitations. Many colleges in the city began banning wearing these one-liner tees. While some did it due to the provocative messages they carried, others did it because of the ‘un-wanted’ attention it drew.Whatever may have been the reason, the students were given strict instructions not to wear them. But Fastrack, a youthcentric brand, has found it’s way around all the rules and regulations set by colleges.Inspired from the quotes and styles designed on the t-shirts, they recent launched a collection of watches with irreverent, tonguein- cheek messages, which show off the attitude of the wearer.Simeran Bhasin, marketing head, Fastrack says, “When it comes to the trend as far as the youth is concerned, it has always been to be noticed and to be outof the-conservative social norms.Tattoos, trendy tees — are colours of gen-y.But now days many colleges are banning one liners tshirts. So what would the youth do? How would they like to sport their one-liners? That is where these watches come into play. The watches have been designed keeping in mind the mind set of the youth.” But unlike tees, watches are an expensive commodity, and splurging huge amount of money to sport their attitude, may not be the best of ideas. This is when, Bhasin assures that the watches have been priced keeping in mind the affordability factor.“Priced at `650, these watches are very affordable and are not heavy on the student’s pockets. They can afford to probably own a few,” she informs.Ashwitha Mukundan, a college student says that the one-liners are more than just a way to accessorise oneself. It is appealing because it is a nonconventional idea. She says that these watches give the students a way to rebel their disagreement over the whole idea of having a stringent dress code of not even being allowed to wear a t-shirt with a casual quote on it.“Dress codes totally makes sense, lest the students wear something ‘inappropriate’ to college, but why ban the students from wearing t-shirts with graffiti on them? Graffiti and one-liner have always been a part of a young mind.On notebooks, while writing notes, on walls, on benches, on your jeans etc.,” she says.As far as the concept of watches with one liners are concerned, Mukundan says, “I think the idea of having accessories such as watches with graffiti or one-liner would definitely interest the student crowd.” Echoing the same thought, Sharon Beulah another student says, “Since we can’t sport t-shirts with one-liners, I think the concept of wearing watches with the same is great.” The watches are available in all Fastrack outlets and in a riot of bright colours with bold and in -our face one-liners.
