Heavy rains, which led to waterlogging and connectivity issues in Mumbai, have also provided relief as the Madhya Vaitrana Dam has now reached full capacity this monsoon season.

Recent heavy rainfall caused four of the seven lakes supplying water to the city to reach full capacity. With the Madhya Vaitrana Lake now also at full capacity, it becomes the fifth lake to be filled this monsoon season.

According to BMC, The Madhya Vaitrana Reservoir was officially filled at 2:45 AM on August 4. Following this, the Water Engineering Department of the BMC has opened both gates of the reservoir, releasing water at a rate of 706.30 cusecs.

The total water storage in all seven reservoirs supplying water to the BMC area has reached 89%.

Previously, the Tulsi, Vihar, Modak Sagar, and Tansa lakes were filled last month. With the addition of Madhya Vaitrana, five out of the seven lakes supplying water to the BMC have now reached full capacity.
