The sources in Kohima confirmed that so far five clashes in different parts of Nagaland and Manipur were reported since Monday, leaving at least seven NSCN (Isaac-Muivah) cadres and a 70-year-old civilian dead.
The clashes reported from Saijang village in Peren district of Nagaland where three NSCN (Khaplang) cadres and a civilian have died.
Four NSCN-IM cadres were also grievously injured in the clashes.
In another such clash, 80-odd NSCM (I-M) armed cadres attacked about 30-odd NSCN (K) activists in which one gunman was killed at Sukhalu village in Zunheboto district on Monday.
Being outnumbered, the NSCN (K) cadres retreated, but four of them still holed up inside a church, who were being cordoned by the NSCN-IM cadres. The NSCN (I-M) sources claimed that they have seized a huge haul of arms and ammunition.
Reports of clashes were received from Phaipijan near Dimapur town, Chumukedima in Dimapur district, but no casualty was reported so far.
Reports received in Kohima from Manipur said combined group of NSCN (K) and Manipur Peoples' Army (MPA) attacked a group of NSCN-IM at Mandeu village in Tamenglong district where three cadres of combined forces were killed, the NSCN (I-M) sources claimed. They said three bodies were lying at Mandeu church.
