In a letter dated July 19, N Balaiah, Public Relations Manager, stated that all work commissioned to improve water supply to the Nanganallur area will be completed by October 2012.Balaiah, in his letter, said that around 88 per cent of the work has been completed. “Two feeder mains of 400 mm and 500 mm diameter have to be laid below the railway track near St Thomas Mount and Meenambakkam railway station respectively,” he said. The area is covered under the Alandur Water Supply Scheme, and at present, 11.5MLD of water is supplied to Nanganallur, Palavanthangal and Adambakkam, and is given once in three or four days, said the letter. It also said, “In addition to this, 40 tanks were erected and water supply of 1.2LL is given through lorries. The per capita water supply works out to 55lpcd.
