News briefs: Patna boy wins silver at International Mathematics Olympiad
City boy, Shubham Sinha, 17, bagged a silver medal at the 54th International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) held at Santa Marta, Colombia. Subham won the medal after competing with participants from 97 countries. He was also felicitated by few eminent Indian mathematicians, National Board of Higher Mathematics and Department of Atomic Energy, India.

Patna: New students' union at Patna Women's college sworn in

The education department of Patna Woman’s College (PWC) conducted an oath-taking ceremony of its new student cabinet members for the 2013-14 academic session on Thursday. Class representatives and leader of houses were also selected. Jyoti Kumari, Shreya Bhasin and Lata were selected as premier, vice-premier, and general secretary respectively.

Patna: Patna University social science faculty to offer PhD course

The vice-chancellor of Patna University, Arun Kumar Sinha inaugurated a PhD course of social sciences faculty on Thursday. He added that the new course is a milestone for the PU students. The dean of the faculty welcomed the dignitaries and said that the exercise would enhance the quality of the research in the faculty.

Gaya: B.Ed exam starts at Magadh University    

The B.Ed examination of Magadh University began on Thursday. Two centres in Gaya while two centres in Patna have been allocated for the examination. Nearly 5,000 candidates will appear in the examination. The controller of examination said that the exams are being conducted in a peaceful manner.

Gaya: Gaya college students' union protests against hold on admission to vocational courses

The students union protested against the hold on enrollment of vocational courses in colleges. The students’ wing adopted different measures to protest against the decision of the colleges. The Gaya College was forcefully closed by the NSUI wing while the students of Anugraha Memorial College organised rally against the college authorities.
