A day after allegations of EVM malfunctioning rocked the Lok Sabha bypoll in Kairana, the Election Commission ordered repolling in 73 booths of Kairana parliamentary constituency. The EC has agreed to conduct the repolling on Wednesday between 7 am and 6 pm. Most of the 73 booths are in Nakud and Gangoi Assembly constituencies and five of them in Shamli.

In what may be described as the first Confidence Building Mechanism (CBM) between India and Pakistan in recent times, the armies of the two countries have decided to restore the 2003 ceasefire agreement at the border. According to officials, a hotline was established between the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGsMO) of India and Pakistan and both agreed to stop violating the ceasefire.

Five men were arrested for kidnapping a 30-year-old woman from outside the Sahara Mall in Gurugram and gangraping her at a guest house in south Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area on Monday night. The National Capital Region is facing an acute coal shortage and is likely to run out of coal if the demand for power in Delhi continues to peak further, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said in a letter to PM Narendra Modi. He said that the high demand for power was due to the ongoing heatwave-like condition in Delhi. The amount of coal available in NCR, according to the CM, was not even sufficient for one full day’s power generation.
