New Delhi: Nikolina Nikoleski's journey to India was noting short of movie material. This Croatian choreographer started dancing at the age of 4. She grew up to study at European dance schools like Salzbug Experimental Academy of Dance, Folkwang University of Arts in Germany. Moving forward in her career as a dancer in her country, one day she witnessed a Bharatanatyam recital by Padma Vibhushan Sonal Mansingh at the Croatian National Theatre. Affected by what she saw, she traveled to India in 2004 and started to learn Bharatanatyam from Saroja Vaidyanathan and moved on to open the Nikolina Nikoleski Dance Company in Delhi.

Dance, fashion, art and opera came together in the latest production of this dance academy which dealt with life's journeys and its complications. The 13 scenes of this dance drama questioned through the contemporary dances, our lives and goals and how far we wander away from our real self in order to fit into the society.

The spectacle started with the youngest, a group little ballerinas from Nikolina's academy moving about the stage as Nilima Buch added the music with her powerful operatic performance. The first of the 13 scenes was paramount as it introduced all the performers of the evening. From age 5 going all the way up to 70 the cast rounded up to represent the circle of life. The following scenes dealt with the varied and profound layers of life and it's moments, missed opportunities and the daily battles.

The performances were duly supported by the beautiful and flowing costumes which were designed by Kartikeya. This label launched 2013 by Nitin Kartikeyan derives inspiration from old world heritage and arts like that of the Baroque era. Though the beauty of the dresses was a little disorienting the dances moves centered one's attention.

The show ended with the performers forming a human chain and entering, exiting, moving in a uniform way on a uniform beat which symbolised passing time and universality of life.
