Sitamarhi: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday carried out an aerial survey of flood-hit areas near Tilak-Tajpur in Sitamarhi district where swollen Bagmati river breached its embankment affecting about 1 lakh people.

Kumar also held a high-level review meeting with the Chief Secretary, the Principal Secretary of disaster management, the Road Construction Department Secretary and the District Magistrate in Sitamarhi to assess the flood situation after the breach in the embankment on Saturday.

Stating that a team of high-level officers would probe the reasons behind the breach in the embankment, Kumar said that culprits would not be spared and stern action would follow.

To provide succour to the affected people, Kumar said that government would set up camps in the flood-hit areas of the district and also provide relief materials to those marooned people who did not want to come to the relief camps.
