Tumkur: As an austerity measure in view of the prevailing drought, KPCC president Dr G Parameshwar avoided his followers on his birthday on Monday when the 1951-born Dalit leader turned 61.
No celebrations were held in his hometown and at his residence in Bangalore. However, his followers wished him through advertisements in local Kannada dailies. His supporters told Express that the message of his non-availability on his birthday in Karnataka was sent to the rank and file of the party.“He went to a serene place out of the state on Sunday and would only return on Wednesday,” they added. Parameshwar told Express over phone that he had asked his followers not to organise any birthday celebrations owing to drought.
