The office-bearers of Popular Front of India (PFI) and Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) have distanced themselves from those arrested for their alleged involvement in terror activities.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, both organisations clarified that they had nothing to do with the arrested persons.
State council members of PFI Aboobacker T H and Abdul Razak Kemmar, Head of Media Committee of SDPI Akram Hasan and Abdul Hameed Salmar of SDPI maintained that the arrested persons were in no way related to their organisations.
Reacting to a query that one of the arrested persons was a member of SDPI, its leaders clarified that anybody could become a member of the party by paying a membership fee of Rs 10.
“One member’s activity does not reflect the views of the party and its other members. He had taken part in the SDPI’s convention in Hubli, but he is not an activist of the party,” they said.
