Paes defeats Bhupathi in doubles
The Indo- Serbian pair of Paes and Zimonjic advance to the semis.

New Delhi: Leander Paes paired with Serbian Nenad Zimonjic to down former doubles partner Mahesh Bhupathi and Martin Damm 7-6(3), 7-6(5) to move to the semifinals of the $1,870,000 (Rs 8,41,50,000) Madrid Masters.

The match was a well-fought one with the estranged Indian pair on the opposite side of the court.

Both the pairs played some aggressive tennis but Bhupathi and Damm could not translate the break points that came their way.

Their poor show in the tie breaker let them down as the Indo-Serbian pair of Paes and Zimonjic pocketed the first set.

It was the same story in the second set as well and this time too, Bhupathi and Damm stretched it to the tiebreaker only to see their rivals clinch the set and the match.

In semifinals, Paes-Zimonjic will take on fourth seeded French duo of Michael Llodra and Fabrice Santoro who got a walk over from Andy Roddick and James Black.
