The licence of the lawyer was cancelled as he failed to respond to a contempt notice.
Islamabad: The Pakistan Supreme Court on Tuesday made the next move against the government by suspending the licence of President Asif Ali Zardari's close aide and lawyer Babar Awan.
The licence of the lawyer was cancelled as he failed to respond to a contempt notice.
This came a day after the apex court served Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani a contempt notice for failing to re-open corruption cases against Zardari.
Gilani will have to appear in person before the court on Thurdsay. The Prime Minister has said he will explain his reasons.
However, according to sources, he may now be forced to apologise and even seek re-opening of those cases.
Gilani has the support of his party, the Cabinet and Parliament for now.
