Patiala: In the Patiala gangrape case where a 17-year-old girl committed suicide a month after the incident, the custody of the Assistant Sub-Inspector will end on Wednesday. Naseeb Singh is one of the three police officers who allegedly harassed the girl. He was the in-charge of the police station of the village where the girl committed suicide.

The 17-year-old in her suicide note had stated that she was harassed and scared by police. Her family claimed that the police did not act on their complaint against the accused men, who belonged to the same village as them. The girl's family also alleged that the local police asked her obscene questions when she went to file a complaint.

The ASI along with two other policemen was dismissed from the service when the case came to light and was later booked for abetment to suicide of the victim. The girl, who was allegedly gangraped by three men in November in Patiala district, committed suicide in her village by consuming poison after local police officers allegedly not only refused to register a case but also humiliated her by calling her to the police station repeatedly and asking uncomfortable questions.
