PUDUCHERRY: Even as tussle continues for the Puducherry Congress chief’s post, the All India Congress Committee has decided to maintain status quo for the time being. “At present there is no move to change the PCC President,” AICC Secretary K B Krishnamurthy, said here.Though PCC chief A V Subramanian can breathe easy for the time being, Krishnamurthy did not rule out a change in future. “It is the prerogative of the party president to take such decisions in future and as per the party’s policy there are periodic reshuffles,” he said.In recent times, groups within the party have been vying to gain control of the party. One group is seeking Subramanian’s removal citing the elections as well as the party’s weakening in the UT, another has been vouching for his continuance. No CLP leaderThere is an urgency to appoint the Congress Legislature party (CLP) leader as the Budget Session of the Assembly will begin on August 18.“He will be appointed before the session begins,” assured Krishnamurthy. Already the CLP members have adopted a resolution authorising AICC President Sonia Gandhi to take the decision. AICC General Secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad would work out a mechanism for taking the decision before the session, said Krishnamurthy.
